Nick and his dad see the airport and the houses. Nick sees the mountains. The plane goes to the airport. It is March. The earthquake damaged the airport. The airport works now. The airport is small. Nick and his dad walk from the plane to the airport. The airport has cracks. The cracks are from the earthquake. The cracks are big.


Nick sees men with guns. The men work for the United Nations. The men have blue hats. Nick and his dad walk to the airport from the plane. It is very hot. The airport is hot and there are a lot of people in the airport. Nick and his dad need their passports. Nick and his dad need their bags. It is not fast in the airport.


Nick is hungry. He needs his bag. Nick’s bag is red. His dad sees a red bag. Nick’s dad brings the bag. Nick has a Snickers in the bag. Nick eats the Snickers.


Nick and his dad have their bags. They walk outside the airport. There are a lot of men outside the airport. The men want to help with the bags. The men want work. The men have families. They need a lot because of the earthquake.


Nick sees Benite. Benite is happy. Benite is happy to see Nick and his dad. Benite asks for Nick’s bag and puts the bag on a bus. The bus is a tap-tap. A tap-tap is a haitian bus. It is a truck with two benches. The tap-tap has a lot of colors. The tap-tap is red and blue and green. The tap-tap says Mesi Jezi. Mesi Jezi is “thank you Jesus” in Haitian Creole. The men and women in Haiti speak Haitian Creole. The president and the government speak French and Haitian Creole. Some men and women that have an education speak French and Haitian Creole.
